The 49th Annual National Conference of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM) and 23rd joint IAPSM and Indian Public Health Association (IPHA) Maharashtra chapter 2022 was jointly organised through virtual mode by Department of Community Medicine of Government Medical College and Indira Gandhi Government Medical College, Nagpur from 03rd to 05th March 2022. The conference theme “Beyond the Pandemic: Time to move”, aptly addresses the need of resilient health system for responding to challenges posed due to pandemics while effectively responding to the health needs of the communities.
The three-day scientific extravaganza evoked creative discussion in various areas of public health priority. The details of the scientific sessions and abstracts of oral and poster sessions are available in the souvenir [Figure 1]. There was an enormous response from delegates in India as well as abroad with a total of 1750 registrations. The conference saw seven orations from subject experts covering various topics related to the theme of the conference [Table1]. Similarly, twenty one plenary sessions were organised which covered the length and breadth of various topics of recent public health interest [Table 2]. The seven workshops aimed at promoting human resource development and up skilling saw an enthusiastic engagement from the conference participants [Table 3]. The scientific rigour was further augmented by the 495 oral paper presentations and 170 poster presentations of which 12 received National awards, 18 received state awards and 10 received the best poster award [Table 4].
The post graduate students had ample opportunity to network and interact with faculty members and subject experts. Various competitions were organised to channelize their energy like Slogan writing, video making and critical appraisal of journal article. A post graduate quiz was also organised wherein team from AIIMS Jodhpur emerged as winners. A trophy was donated by the organising committee of IAPSMCON Nagpur 2022 which will be rotated and given every year to the winning team in the valedictory function. The grand success of the conference can be attributed to the team work and active participation of all the IAPSM members [Figure 2].
